A lovely idea from James Clear.
“If you want to be in the top 1% of a particular domain, then you can’t take your cues from and follow the social norms of 99% of people.
This is harder than it sounds. We are wired to imitate. The further you want to climb, the more carefully you need to construct your tribe.
The people who have already walked through the fire can help you do the same.”
You are the sum of your study circle or the people that you hang with. If they are exactly like you or think like you, then it’s unlikely you will improve much.
Let me explain with numbers. The average of 2+2+2+2+2 will still remain 2. The average of 2+2+2+6+8 is however 4. Simply by adding a 6 and an 8, the average of the group goes up 100%.
The question then is “Who are you surrounding yourself with?”
Who is your Tribe? Who are you listening to? Whose guidance and counsel are you following?
