What do you think of an empty calendar?
While many might not (I didn’t too) like an empty calendar, Author Shane Parrish wrote “An empty calendar is a competitive advantage. The person who fills their calendar with average opportunities has NO TIME for exceptional ones.”
Isn’t this true?
I see this all the time in our industry/profession.
Everyone seems to be busy doing something: getting certifications, reading something, attending meets.
At the same time, there is no time to do the real work of growing the firm, of leading the firm, of building the firm of the future.
Steve Jobs said, “People think focus means saying yes to the thing you have got to focus on. But that’s not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas/things that are there. You must pick carefully.”
What about you? Are you picking carefully?
If you are, do you have an empty calendar?
If you do, Congratulations…but if you don’t, what will you say NO to in 2024?
