In Ernest Hemingway’s novel, “The Sun Also Rises”, a character by the name Mike is asked about his bankruptcy. Mike responds, “Two ways.” He then continues, “Gradually, then Suddenly.”
This is exactly what happens with change. First, it’s the small changes and before you know it, your world looks completely different. Hasn’t this happened in our industry?
Absolutely it has and it will continue to change in ways you haven’t imagined yet.
Two years ago, a distributor (who then joined us as a partner) told us that my clients are retirees, and they don’t understand technology. Fast forward today, all the retiree (not so tech savvy) clients are super happy with him, and the modern client experience he is delivering them from the comfort of his home…
Change will happen whether we like it or not…It will seem like nothing is happening. But then all of a sudden…Boom…We experience the aftereffects of an earthquake without even experiencing the earthquake. Such is the nature of the beast called change…
Many people learn from the school of hard knocks. Many don’t. Needless to say, it’s much better to plan and prepare for change intentionally.
James Allen in his book “As a Man Thinketh‘ wrote, “People are anxious to improve their circumstances but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound.”
