Most people confuse the two words mentioned in the headline. Not understanding the difference has real implications for your business. In fact, this might even be costing you time and money.
Don’t believe me? You will in sometime.
Have you ever felt frustrated while explaining a concept to someone? The concept that was actually in the best interest of the person you were explaining it too. You appealed to their logic. You appealed to their emotion. But you got nowhere.
If you have spent any serious time in this line of work, chances are extremely high that you have had many such encounters.
This is where understanding the difference between a skeptic and a cynic comes in handy.
A skeptic says, “I don’t believe it now, but I will believe it when you prove it”.
A cynic on the other hand actually says, “I will not believe it even if you prove it”.
We waste a lot of time on cynics. Don’t we?
How valuable then would it be if you could make this distinction in your prospecting meetings itself?
I am curious to know what you think.
