Simple is in Fact Hard.
Sounds confusing. Let me give an example. “Eat Less and Exercise” are the 4 golden words for being fit and healthy.
It is simple but how easy is it to implement in our lives?
It is difficult for me to implement this all the time on my own. I might eat well but then slip-on exercise or I might exercise and not eat well. Thus, I need the help of my fitness instructor and a nutritionist to remain disciplined with my workouts.
I need someone to hold me accountable because simple is not easy to implement all the time. There is tremendous value in this. Sadly, many are unable to see this and thus prefer to pay in hospitals rather than paying real good fitness coaches.
Likewise in our work, some things might appear simple. That does not make them easy. We have poured all our heart and energy into building Happyness Factory as a world class offering. It has received glowing remarks from financial professionals and seasoned industry executives from almost 12+ countries. The common thing I hear all the time is, “How simple is this? Why are others not doing this?“
The challenge is that many financial professionals are blinded by complexity as we believe it is a mark of technical competence. We feel our value lies in complexity or seeing/predicting the unknown. We have also made customers believe so.
Spanish philosopher Baltasar Gracian wrote, “When you counsel someone, you should appear to be reminding him of something he had forgotten, not of the light he was unable to see.“
Pardon the gender reference here but it equally applies to him and her. I hope this Nano reminds you of something you have forgotten.
I would love to know your responses to this question:
What are the simple things that are not easy for you in your work?
