In the book “The Daily Stoic”, Author Ryan Holiday wrote, “How you do anything is how you do everything.”
Steve Jobs knew this insight intuitively.
How well you do a minor task is exactly how well you will do a complex task.
Think about the first meeting. How well do you do this? Are you creating a wow experience?
What about the referral conversation?
Are you paying attention to this on how well you do it?
There is a wonderful Nadia Boulanger (a music teacher and conductor who trained many of the leading composers and musicians of the 20th century) quote that fits well with the above insight.
“Anyone who acts without paying attention to what he is doing is wasting his life. I did go so far as to say life is denied by lack of attention, whether it be cleaning windows or trying to write a masterpiece.”
The future of your business and your life rests on understanding and acting on this insight. Because how you handle today is how you will handle every day. And how you will handle this minute is how you will handle every minute.
