There is a poet Kahlil Gibran’s super powerful quote – Work is Love Made Visible.
Read, Reflect and Meditate on this one…It’s simply brilliant…
These five powerful words capture the essence of the work we all do…
Work is Love Made Visible…
Our work is our love made visible to everyone whose paths we cross…whether that someone becomes a client, remains a prospect or even chooses to ignore us.
We know the work we do…We know the power of the work we do…And it is our duty to make our love visible (through our work) in this world…
And what is it to work with love?
I reproduce a small portion of Kahlil Gibran’s poem on work (The Prophet, 1923) to answer this question.
“It is to weave the cloth with threads drawn from your heart, even as if your beloved were to wear that cloth.
It is to build a house with affection, even as if your beloved were to dwell in that house.
It is to sow seeds with tenderness and reap the harvest with joy, even as if your beloved were to eat the fruit.
It is to charge all things you fashion with a breath of your own spirit,
And to know that all the blessed dead are standing above you and watching.”
Isn’t this magical?
The questions then to ask yourself are:
- Is love visible in the work I do?
- What do I need to do to make love visible in the work I do?
