Let me confess at the beginning – this Nano is not about catching a squid (in case you were expecting it). Nevertheless, this Nano has a squid connection and more importantly a powerful insight that you will find useful.
In my post “Is our Iceberg Melting?”, I wrote briefly about how a group of penguins managed to save their entire colony of penguins in the face of adversity. Well, Penguins love squids. Apparently, the tiny squids loved by penguins are tricky little devils.
In their book, “Our Iceberg is Melting”, the authors John Kotter and Holger Rathbeger wrote, “These squids will shoot a very unappealing jet of black ink at a predator and then zoom away. So, in a one squid versus one penguin matchup, the squid can easily win. Penguins, having discovered this problem many, many years ago, had found a solution: hunt squid in groups.”
The point here is that even extraordinary individual capabilities do not help catch this squid.
The same applies to us.
Extraordinary individual capabilities will be of limited utility. To fully realize our potential, we need the support and help of others. We need to collaborate, partner, create win-win for everyone, be a world class team player and share abundantly.
The question is “Are you ready?”
